Population: There is not enough data to estimate the number of Himalayan Griffons in Kazakhstan. The last estimate, in 2014, assumed there to be about 50 pairs and between 100 and 150 immature individuals, mainly in the south-eastof Kazakhstan. The global population of the species is estimated at between 66 thousand and 334 thousand mature individuals.

Status: A rare, endangered, and little-studied species (Category IV).

Habitat: Tibet, the Himalayas, Pamir-Alai and Tien Shan mountain ranges. In Kazakhstan, it lives in the mountain ridges of the south-east partofthe republic from the Kyrgyz Alatau in the southwest to the Zhetysu Alatau in the northeast.
