Status. Category III. A rare lynx subspecies. It is also listed in the Red Books of Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan.
Dissemination. The Turkestan lynx's range covers the mountains of Central Asia. Kazakhstan is inhabited by the Tien Shan, Dzungarian Alatau, Tarbagatay, and Saur. In the Syrdarya Karatau, the lynx disappeared around the 40s of the 20th century.
