Population: It is estimated that since 2020, between 1800 and 2000 pairs have nested in Kazakhstan. Globally, the number is estimated to be between 11.4 thousand and 13.4 thousand adults.

Status: A rare and endangered species (Category II). Alocally breeding species with a declining population.

Habitat: The Great White Pelican is found along the coasts of Southern Europe, the reservoirs of Western Siberia, Asia Minor, some lakes of Mongolia and Xinjiang. In Kazakhstan, it breeds in the reservoirs of the Ural region, on the northern and northeastern coast of the Caspian Sea, in the Turgai hollow, the Naurzum Reserve, the Tengiz-Kurgaldzhinsky depression, the middle reaches of the Syrdarya, Lake Balkhash, in the deltas of the Ili, Tentek and Black Irtyshrivers.
