Status. Category III. A rare little-studied bird.

Dissemination. In Kazakhstan, it lives in the mountain forests of the south and south-east of the country, as well as in the tugai in the floodplains of the Reksyr Darya, Ili, Chilik, Charyn, Karatal. In the 1970s, nesting was established in the Karkaraly Mountains; in the 80-90s it nestled in southwestern Altai, the Zaisan Basin, Manrak and Tarbagatay. It hibernates in India and Africa.
