Population: Common species. The number of chukar in Kazakhstan has not been precisely established, but it is known that in someareas it is decreasing due to hunting and other factors. Taking into accountdata from China, where the number ranges from 10 thousand to 100 thousand breeding pairs, it can be assumed that in Kazakhstan the number of chukarmay range from 5 thousand to 50 thousand adults, given the smaller range.
Status: Non-endangered and non-game species but with ecological and cultural significance.
Habitat: The chukar lives in various mountainous and foothill regions of Central Asia, and Kazakhstan, where it is found in places such as Mangyshlak, Ustyurt, Kyzylkum, as well as in themountains of Tien Shan and Zhetysu Alatau.
