Population: The population is low, especially in the western parts of its habitat.

Habitat: A subspecies of the wolf that lives in the steppes and deserts of Central Asia,its habitat includesthe steppes of Kazakhstan and southern Russia, including the Pre-Caucasian, Caspian, Ural, and Lower Volga regions. It is a little-studied species. They live a mostly sedentary life, though some of animals roam in pursuit of ungulates.
