Population: There are no exact data on the number of blackbirds in Kazakhstan. However, in Almaty, their number has increased markedly in recent decades. In Europe, the number of breeding Eurasian blackbirds is estimated at between 54 million and 87 million pairs.

Status: Non-endangered andnon-game species but with ecological and cultural significance.

Habitat: In Kazakhstan, it breeds in the Tien Shan and Zhetysu Alatau mountain ranges,as well as in a number of places in Eastern Kazakhstan. During migration periods it is sometimes found in the western regions of the republic. In the south of Kazakhstan, the blackbird is a sedentary bird, whereas in Altai it is a migratory nesting bird. In the rest of the territory it is a common or rare migratory bird.
